Ludovic Lemaignen




Trained as a chemist in France, Ludovic Lemaignen holds a PhD from the Department of Chemical Engineering at Imperial College London, and has research experience at postdoctoral level in catalysis, chemical engineering and pollution abatement.

After several years working as an academic researcher in France and the UK, Ludovic joined ASK Consultants in 2004. Since then he has specialised in major hazard risk assessment and air pollution problems, as well as loss and contamination of bulk cargoes.



During his time at ASK, Ludovic has been involved in a wide range of projects, including:

  • Contribution to independent investigation of explosion at Hertfordshire Oil Storage Ltd, Buncefield
  • DSEAR compliance audits and assistance with risk assessments
  • Investigation of health risks from use of fertiliser produced from power station ash
  • Modelling of pollutant dispersion from pottery kilns and drying ovens
  • Assessment of odour emissions from flares burning landfill gas
  • Safety advice regarding developments within the Consultation Distance of COMAH sites
  • Estimation of the flammability of the exhaust gases resulting from the treatment of a poorly defined waste stream, to assist with a planning application and reactor design
  • Provision of technical advice for use in litigation, concerning compliance of chemical plant with UK standards, guidance and regulations
