Selected projects:

• Mathematical modelling and design of validation experiments to assess possible hazard of spread and escalation from transformer fires (UK commercial client).

• Participation in international study (with Netherlands Ministry of Environment and others) developing concepts such as Environmental Harm Index and Environmental Risk Criteria (CEC DG XII). See Selected Publications page.

• Supervision of PhD research, supported by Health and Safety Executive, on formation and dispersion of toxic plumes from pool fires (UK Health and Safety Executive).  See Selected Publications page.

• Experimental and modelling study to assess possible hazard from ingress of fire fighting materials into adjacent spaces (UK commercial client).

• Development of guidelines, together with algorithm for computer implementation, for the assessment of EML (Estimated Maximum Loss) from fire and explosion on oil and petrochemical plant (International Oil Insurers).  See Selected Publications page.

• Modelling of dispersion of gas emitted by landfill sites (Environment Agency and Shanks & McEwan). See Selected Publications page.

• Comparative study of emissions from various sources of biomass for electricity generation (UK government agency).

• Co-ordination of to research on the mechanism of generation of corrosive contaminants in LPG cargoes (UK insurers, Scandinavian shipowner).
